Stackridge became a popular recording act and concert attraction in the UK in the 1970's, producing five major-label albums, including the celebrated The Man in the Bowler Hat, produced by Beatles producer Sir George Martin. The band broke up in 1976 before having an opportunity to reach the American market. A rabid online fan base convinced Stackridge to reunite in 2007. Since then, the band has kept an active performing schedule, as well as releasing a live DVD and an album of all-new material in 2009. That album, A Victory for Common Sense (Helium Records), received four-star reviews in MOJO magazine and The Times of London.
Craig Ferguson invited Stackridge to appear on his program after the band discovered via YouTube and Twitter that Ferguson was featuring one of its recordings in his touring stand-up comedy act. Ferguson first became a Stackridge fan during his adolescence in Scotland in the 1970's.

A new generation of fans is now discovering what British rock aficionados prized in the early 70's, when Stackridge released three albums on MCA Records, including the George Martin-produced The Man in the Bowler Hat and two albums on Elton John's Rocket label. Although Davis and Warren went on to success as The Korgis (“Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime”), the unique and timeless sound that is Stackridge refused to remain dormant, and the band's current resurgence is a cause for celebration for fans, old and new, on both sides of the Atlantic.
