The lyrical excursions of pianist Oscar Aichinger, the complex acoustic guitar playing of James Emery or the multi-dimensional, translucent sounds of trumpeter and flugelhorn player Franz Koglmann provide for a wealth of discoveries. Both the Canadian clarinettist Fran�ois Houle and the saxophonist Gebhard Ullmann steer a course towards meditative ballads. “Icebreaker" introduces a plethora of intricately interlocking topics, and bassist John Lindberg delights with a multi-nuanced combination of different motifs.
